Overview

This course is designed to focus on the real-life strategic and daily decisions entrepreneurs make. It goes beyond the textbook theory to unveil behind-the-scenes insights into challenges entrepreneurs face when building, scaling, or exiting businesses. These major decisions can be pivotal, often determining the success or failure of a venture and its founder. The course teaches students material applicable to tech businesses across all sectors and all stages of development.

Prerequisites

There are no formal prerequisites.

Methodology

The course will be divided into three blocks, each with a number of hands-on practical learning sessions. The first block is centered around the early decisions founders need to make, including the commitment to the venture, incorporating, team building and product-market fit. The second block is focused on scaling the venture and forecasting how much money will be required. The third block revolves around financing pitch structure and development. Students will be assigned research and assignments prior to each class. Class time will be divided equally between instructor led presentations and class discussions.

The final grade will be composed of the following criteria:
20% - Exam 1
20% - Exam 2
10% - Presentation Pitch
25% - Class Participation
25% - Assignments

He is currently an entrepreneur, investor, and/or chief financial officer in a number of early stage ventures. Martin has a unique perspective in understanding how start-ups all the way through to large organizations can innovate, scale and compete on a global basis. He is involved in fintech, biotech, healthcare, Enterprise IT, Sports-tech, social impact and other verticals.
