Overview

Finance is ubiquitous in any modern society. Even outside the world of business, it resides at every step of your life, starting with the everyday use of banks and payments, health insurance, housing loans and savings for your retirement. On the macro-level, financial issues such as the Lehman shock and the Euro crisis are often key drivers for the global economy.

Prerequisites

A basic understanding of statistics and probability, such as normal distribution and conditional probability is required. See free online courses at Edx for the level required. There will be mini-tests on day one to see your eligibility. If you fail, you can still take the course, but you will need to retake the exam on the second Monday.

Methodology

The module is taught with a combination of lectures, case studies, classroom discussions and individual presentations.

Participation in the discussion is a must. There will be frequent mini-tests.

Grading

The final grade will be composed of the following criteria:
10% - Attendance
30% - Participation
60% - Mid and Final Exams

Chief Financial Officer at ZEN PLACE Inc.

Takuji Okubo spent 11 years as an investment bank economist, spanning his career at Goldman Sachs and later becoming Chief Economist at Societe Generale covering Japan and South Korea.

In 2012, he left the industry to found Japan Macro Advisors, an economic consultancy servicing institutional clients. His firm recently extended its coverage to India, opening an office in Bangalore.

Yes. Upon completion of the course, you will receive a certificate signed by the director of the program your course belonged to.
