Overview
Product strategy provides a blueprint for building, marketing, and scaling products that deliver enduring value. In today’s highly technology-driven world, especially with the exponential rise of AI, a well-defined strategy is more critical than ever for aligning diverse stakeholders and navigating complexity.
Tailored for early- to mid-career professionals, this immersive 3-week course explores core principles of product strategy and emphasizes real-world application through hands-on assignments and group work. Topics include crafting differentiated value propositions, achieving product-market fit, designing go-to-market strategies, focusing on critical product and business analytics, and integrating organizational and ecosystem dynamics into decision-making. While not a technical course, we will strongly bias discussions, examples, and projects toward the transformative impact of AI across product development, go-to-market motions, and strategic thinking.
With a startup-centric lens, the program underscores the importance of a holistic approach—spanning product, business, technology, and operational levers. A capstone group project anchors the learning experience, equipping students to confidently shape and execute product strategies in today’s fast-changing, AI-infused world.

Prerequisites
While there are no specific prerequisites, students should lean on and share their prior corporate, entrepreneurial, and leadership experience. The course will encourage and challenge students to use not just hard skills such as critical thinking, structured analysis, and research, but also soft skills such as adaptability, learning agility, and multicultural leadership. This is not a technical or coding course. Familiarity with commonly available AI tools - particularly generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, or similar platforms - will be helpful, as students may be expected to explore how such tools can support product and business thinking.
Methodology
The course is designed to balance individual work and deep collaboration with peers. In addition, the course will be interspersed with opportunities for stimulating in-class and out-of-class debates and engagement. We will accomplish this through the following:
Lectures, including in-class workshops, Individual work: long-form product strategy document, Site visit: to a local startup (subject to change), Interaction and engagement: through in- and out-of-class participation and case study discussions, Capstone group project: long-form product strategy document and live presentation
Every student has a different starting point and a unique learning style. During these three weeks, we will not be competing against or judging each other. Instead, the goal is to build our own competence and confidence while learning from a diverse and talented class.
Work Integrity and Responsible Use of AI:
AI tools are increasingly becoming part of professional product work, and students are encouraged to become comfortable using them as learning and productivity aids. At the same time, this course is designed to assess your own thinking, judgement, strategic reasoning, communication, and ability to apply what you have learned. Use AI to support your work — not to replace it.
* Use AI tools for appropriate purposes such as brainstorming, exploring alternatives, summarising material, improving clarity, or challenging your initial thinking.
* You remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, quality, and integrity of anything you submit. Verify claims, data, quotations, sources, and references rather than assuming an AI system is correct.
* Your submissions should reflect your own analysis, judgement, point of view, and effort. Avoid submitting AI-generated work that you have not meaningfully reviewed, shaped, and understood.
* Where the use of AI materially contributes to a submission, be prepared to explain how you used it and how you developed the final output.
* The instructor reserves the right to ask students to explain, discuss, or substantiate submitted work and to consider the demonstrated authenticity, understanding, and personal effort behind the work when determining grades.
