Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of the design tool Figma. During the entire course, the student must bring a laptop with Figma installed.

Methodology

Throughout the workshop, students will work in small teams to design a typographically focused visual identity for a festival centred around a single object (e.g., ping pong, ice cream, eye, chair, plant, backpack, pencil, apple, chocolate, or wood). Students will engage in theoretical lectures, hands-on exercises, and a final project—designing a one-page website and a poster—to master the principles of typography and layout design for both online and print media. This comprehensive approach will enable them to create visually appealing and readable designs suitable for both digital and print media.

Grading

The final grade will be composed of the following criteria:
50% - Participation, homework, and in-class work
50% - Final presentation (students will start working on their project from day 1)
Throughout the course, students will explore the relationship between typography and layout design. They will engage in theoretical lectures, hands-on exercises, and a final project to master these principles. This will enable them to create visually appealing and readable designs suitable for both digital and print media.
